As part of her 2002-2003 Masters in Clinical Psychology study, Eri is undertaking a research project in conjunction with two NSW Department of Education primary schools in suburban Sydney. Eri is evaluating the effect of negative self-talk in year five students faced with making a presentation to their peers in the classroom. Eri is evaluating the anxiety that the children experience, and how their own negative self-talk can exacerbate that level of anxiety.

As part of the research, Eri will be training the participating children to help them reduce negative self-talk and hence to reduce the anxiety experienced by the children.
